it kind of strikes me that some very smart people are very bad at relationship, not just all kinds of personal relationship, but also business relationship. learning how to manage relationship appears to me are apprentice based, trial and error, a very inefficient way of learning.
why there is not a discipline (say a department in the business school) that studies and teaches relationship. we know about golden rule, etc, but there are a lot more to be studied and taught. i can see this is an intersection of psychology, sociology, game theory, medical science, brain, computer simulation, …
wouldn’t it be nice that a young person who comes to college will be able to take a set of 2 courses on relationship building, and get the essence of how to handle relationship later in his/her life?
