this is the question I think is more critical than anything else, but any hypothesis on this will be extremely hard to test, I guess that probably explains why very little has been discussed. what i am referring to is this — what comes before big bang, or if as suggested, if the whole thing collapses and expands in cycle, where did the whole thing come from initially? if the string theorists are right, why there are so many dimensions, and what started all this? …

could we regenerate the whole thing in a simulation? if yes, what does not mean to our universe? well, at least this is one hypotheses that can be tested, once we have enough computing power.
