Hardworking US undergrad

August 30th, 2007 · No Comments

New semester started, and I got to meet my students. One undergraduate student told me that he worked up to 110 hours a week over the summer to make enough money to pay for the expenses. I don’t know how he did it (15 hours a day?), but I have no doubt not only he did it, but also there are many students did similar things, some still holding a job after school starts. How could you not respect that? I think people outside US, well, actually inside US too, do not give enough credit to our undergraduate students. In terms of hardworking, maturity, risk taking, and a whole bunch of other stuff, it will be hard to find many countries that come close.
