NoNameProf

There are two types of faculty that appear to be in sharp contrast with each other

1. those whose work is everything, they either do not have a family and/or kids, or their spouse takes care of their kids close to 100%.  
2. those who work from 8 to 5 (or some regular hours), then they take care of their kids, spend time with family, and do other stuff.

I have seen some people in category 1 doing very well, and then I also see people in category 2 doing also extremely well. I probably epitomize the second category, I have time blocked each day and certain days of week that I simply do not work on anything related to my job. clealry, I can always spend more time on work, write a few more papers, get some new grants. but sanity must be preserved and priority must be straight.
