There goes my nevteq

October 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

Nokia made an offer to buy Nevteq for $78, that pretty much put an uppper ceiling on what I can get out of this stock, so I sold it. I bought it for $58, and sold it for about $76. It is about 31% return over a period of 2 months.

My other holding in the portfolio, GARMIN, unfortunately, has dropped more than 15% over the last two days, due to this news. I feel strongly that this is an overreaction of the market. GARMIN is an excellent company, and they will do well in the consumer market. How long will it to recover, of course, is a different story. I am still quite optimistic that it will return 60-100% in a year (by August 2008). We will see.
